To cut a very long story short, I went with a fabricator named Titan Trailers and Structures in Brackley, Northants.
Main man Peter Reeve came to see me and had a measure up. The three quotes were all very close, Titans being the least by only £200 so that made no difference whatsoever. Thing is with Titan I will get more restraining points and higher spec axles. Peter showed me photos of what they had built before and I also know of other folks who have had stuff built by them. They all said I can't go wrong with Titan. In a strange twist it would seem that Peter supplied the kit form trailer which my brother welded together 18 years ago to make the one I still use to this day.
Peter will visit my yard again and have a final measure up. He wants me to visit their place a couple of times during the build just to make sure everything is ok and that was what finally swung it for me. Whilst I have absolutely no doubt the others would provide an excellent trailer, they were a good way from me and I would have to provide measurements for specific restraining points and other things I want building in. If I got it wrong, they build it wrong and I kick myself for years.
Should be contacting me soon to make a start and he did mention it might be done for New Year.
Thanks for asking.
Pete is a good chap, known him many years now and we have had many things made by him, trailers, bowsers and even our last building. Really do rate his work and always willing to take on a challenge. Don't let the grubby look or limp put you off.Hhhmmmm........
The company I have chosen are Titan Trailers and Structures. (Or maybe Titan Structures and Trailers)
I'm not daft or naive enough to suggest they are different companies or even different people, but I'm not sending them money via an e-transaction the other side of the world. I've met the chap, grubby shirt and all, and he seems good enough. More than that some customers of mine have engaged his services and have been impressed with the service and quality of work.
I didn't know about their previous business troubles and now that I do I'm not worried.
The internet is great for this kind of stuff and I thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Cheers.
I'm sure he could sort something. Very clever chap. That sounds great and I recall Peter Reeve suggesting something hydraulic for the ramps too, but the Big A has no hydraulic service.

You don't want to be extending the boom at all. Any loss of hyd pressure would mean movement of the whole machine.
yes you are right it was a ford capri and killed the occupantsYes, true, but I'm told VOSA take a very dim view of such things. Comes from some case when a JCB back actor swung round on the back of a lorry some years back and clouted a van. Safety catch wasn't located and hydraulic failure let it slew round or something.
did you work for the firm roscoe? my dad did i thinkyes you are right it was a ford capri and killed the occupants
correction hit more than one car killed 5
Just realise we never had any photos Pete!
All change!!
Stewart Trailers are building it as we speak. Long story!!
