Buying used machine

Having bought and paid for a used machine from a large reputable dealer, how long is a reasonable delivery time before asking for another machine to put me on?

A particular bone of contention for me. These days you are expected to pay up front. Once they have your money, the desire to keep the customer happy evaporates.
I try to organise my own collection lorry these days if possible. At least delivery is in your own hands then.

Only wanted a wash and a quick once over in workshop. Been told won't get it this week cause a fitter is on a course, workshop manager is on holiday and second in command is sick. Like I said, large concern surely someone can wash it:banghead: Will be 2 weeks on Monday

The last 2 twin rotor rakes ( Claas an Kuhn)I have purchased were both bought new from dealer's I had not purchased from before and paid for fully without finance at time of purchase, and both took over 2 month's to arrive even tho they were in stock but both purchased in January so not needed.
Another (Vicon) was purchased and paid for also in January many year's ago and was not in stock and never arrived by the middle of June so dealer sent my money back.
Two year ago ordered a new (Lely) twin rake in February and cancelled order middle of July after a no show! And that was meant to be in this country when the order was taken!!!!
Maybe's I am just unlucky!

Your not unlucky it happens all the time sometimes its not the dealers fault but they get the hassle obviously. Theres no excise for it in this day and age you can get most things next day from all over Europe if you need it. It seems sometimes that people dont care if they sell you something or not

Maybe I am alone but to me one of the good points of buying from the dealer is that I have no risk of buying for something I don't receive. I would not pay before I take delivery of the machine.
Last year I bought a tractor myself but went through our dealer (at a small premium) because I did not know the company that sold it and only payed for it after I picked it up.
No problem for them but I was asked to pay promptly after, seems reasonable.

Tell them you are calling in for your money back as you have found another that's less money.

They seem to be unfortunate, is there anyone left to answer the phone?
And the salesman that was good enough to sell it to you, is he available for comment?
Did you actually see it, there not selling your old one back to you, like a local New Holland dealer here. Only for the bit of baler twine on the chopper ...........
