Early drilling, green bridge (especially when drilling on the green)...it would seem that direct drilling is perfect for fostering BYDV. Do we need to squirt insecticides on early drilled wheat or can we safely 'do a Clive' and not worry?
I would always use Deter. It's not great on slugs but helps, but anything drilled before Oct has got to be susceptible to BYDV even without a green bridge. Of course BYDV vectors are generally bird cherry and grain aphids so the green bridge isn't so damaging if it's not a cereal species.
