HI just had a strange thing happened. we had a pigeon cable tied to our fence at the end of our road which is beside a main road , I might be over reacting. could i possibly being marked for something ,I would be interested to hear if anybody has had this happen to them.. thanks Derek

It used to be considered a good way to keep birds away.
Has a nearby field been recently sown and your fence just the easiest place to hang it?

Somebody came to me one day to warn that they had seen on facebook that criminals were marking farms for targeting by tying cord to gates and they had seen it on my property.
I explained that I wasn't worried. I always leave a bit of string on a gate in case in needs tying and my pockets might be empty!!

I have done that myself with crows etc on new seeds fields but that's not the case here all old grass leys

Aye, thats what they teach em in crim skool, tie a dead bird or two to the gate, then you will be sure to catch em off guard....

Was it done to lure other animals in to shoot or photograph, crows or birds of prey maybe.
