anyone used calcium sulphate products that can be spread with fert spreader. need to bring down mag index plus sulpher would be useful, what rate do you put it on, whats it cost, would it spread to 28 meters.

It will spread to 24m, not sure beyond that? 250-300kg/ha I'd have thought? Think it may take a while to have an effect. We apply gypsum for the same job but several tonnes/acre and it still takes a while.
I'm also doomed

Pete and Mounty I would not give up just yet.. We tried some calcifert after the 2012 deluge thinking that most of the calcium had been washed out of the surface levels of our soils. I cannot say whether or not it worked but we did not see any yield benefit where we used it. I am now very much in favour of applying bulk products on a five year rotation, it needs a bit of re-thinking and re-budgeting but I think if we can re-negotiate some of our tenancy/share-farming agreements we can make it work. It's the way we are going on the land we own.

I think there is a place for both - I use annual very low rate calcifert not really as a liming product but to supply crop Ca requirement and bulk Ag limes to correct fundamental low ph hot spots and fields. both work well and having a good policy in place that we stick to helps avoid problems and expense building up
