Calf house

Have 270 spring calving milk cows. Calf hse needs replaced. Any ideas on type of hse pitch of roof, ridge type,height to eves. only used to rear heifers need room for 100 calfs.

buy 20 calf hutches able to take 5 in each put them on clean stone for good drainage and turn according to direction of worst weather
when finished pressure wash and disinfect
400 quid a piece times 20 £8000
cheaper than any shed of good spec, that you wished you had done such and such to but is too late now
only down side to hutches is they are single use ,at least with a shed you can use it for the rest of the year for storage etc (which you will curse about when you have to take it all out again two days before the first cow calves )

The best system I ever saw was in Hereford. They had igloos around a roofed shed with open sides. Cost a bit but more than worth it.

I never went to see them but bought 5 igloos from them,I have them set up the same I tried without a roof over the feeding area and it just didn't work,it ended up a swamp.
