we don't buy much at all. £1800/ton l was quoted though. What brand /make was that ? As we will soon have to buy a ton. Reared 150+, on 2 bags of powder, we use stored colostrum and any waste milk.

but with milk powder, you get what you pay for.

my calculator is telling me, that's £1,710/ ton, 25 kg bags, at that are £45, £1800 ton, reckon l got the ton rate right, just not the bag rate, which l am happy to admit !
I'll say it again, you have too much waste milk if you can rear 150 calves on it

been following this tread as it's what my mate does, i say fek it i'll buy store's ;)
its not as easy as it sounds, but some reckon its money for old rope.

if you want to see the 'potential' of the calves dairies sell, its very easy, how much do they make.
a £400 calf, pretty obviously a damn good calf, should make a good end bullock.

a sub £15, pretty obvious there's 'reasonable' doubt its going to make a decent bullock, at the other end. And there's plenty like that in the mkts now.

today, vaccinated 100 calves v clostridial diseases, 100 deloused, and 75 min drench.
