Got a 5130 Pro here since new I believe it was the last Case 51 series tractor sold by Bowens at Cairneyhill a 97 R plate has 12000 + hours a JD front linkage thumb powershift on the gear lever used to drill 4-500 acre with a combination drill and has pulled a 5 furrow plough on occasions ......it’s hydraulics are getting tired now probably a new pump would help but it’s still a great tractor to drive miles ahead of the 4230 we had ........ it only lasted 5 years and was chopped in for a Doncaster built Mc115 , another decent tractor
A 5130 and a 4230 are chalk and cheese, one was a lightweight tractor which came from a generation of tractors which owed there roots to the Fergie 20 designed as a universal run around
The other was a serious heavy weight tractor designed for heavy draft work.
Both had their place on farms

They were real easy to remap too

Other than top link draught control, no links to Fergie. I do agree that the 2 case lines were not in any way comparable. A bit like comparing the 51 series with the Magnum.

42 series were cheap tractors designed to drag a few more years out of a an old design.
My 4230 when I bought it new with a decent 30cwt quicke loader, shear grab, bale squeezer and bucket was still cheaper than a bare 6200 Deere.
Of course the Deere was a much better tractor than the case, but when you’re starting out you wonder just how good a tractor you need to plonk a few grabs of silage in ring feeders.
The thing with the old Doncaster cases and nashers is that they are cheapish to buy andyou can get bits for them and fix them without having to take cabs off etc.
I have a 5150 pro too, which would be hard work in a tight yard with a loader. Much nicer to drive, but there are lots of obsolete parts on 51/series nowadays.

What parts are obsolete, i seem to be able to get bits fine for mine?

yes, except that the 5130 has a Lucas rotary pump not a Bosch VE as listed on ebay.....the point I was trying to make is that the manufacturer is no longer supporting the product.
