Funny little cartridge style things. We have two on our 2wd 956xl and you order the filters for a 955xl to get the right ones. Our 4wd 956xl takes two of the larger ones the same size.
who ever built them was having a laugh and just bolted on what looked appropriate at the time.

take them off, measure and order, it will be loads less hassle.
Might be a good idea to give it a waft with the pressure washer first though!

Any idea what type of filters are in these 3 holders it's linked to the power steering pump..I haven't taken them off yet but I can't find filters listed for this

The 2 heavy steel canisters are the high pressure filters for main hydraulics & steering. They have identical filters in them.
The tin pot is the pilot pressure unit for the sensodraulic system.
This tin pot actually does contain a metal gauze filter so it's worth a look inside to clean it out, although if your 3 point hitch is working fine this gauze can't be too bad.

I'm guess your tractor is an earlier non sensodraulic 955xl or IH 956xl non combi filter type ?

yes, that would explain it, the one with the stubby high pressure filter is non sensodraulic. shes away shaking hay at the minute (a job I avoid) I'll try and get a pic. It's definitely supposed to be a 956xl but really a 955 under the cover.

This is the only hydraulic filter I can find listed for 856xl through Vapormatic is this the one in both the steel canisters and then one with a washable gauze filter?

That looks like the one right enough, but I'll be very surprised if the filter causes loss of steering if the hydraulics are working ok.
There is though a flow divider in that combi filter block& that will or can cause loss of steering.
It's certainly the first port of call.

Ok where is the flow divider located?
Is it a "case" of it being blocked?
