Case 885 oil consumption

Once again my pals 885xl, it’s using and excessive amount of engine oil , just had a look there’s signs of oil in the radiator and a little blue smoke, nothing excessive in the way of leaks. He says, he filled it to just over the max, done about 8 hours work, on the round baler and wrapper, the next morning it was 1/4” below the minimum.

Tractor seems to have plenty power, but to use that amount of oil in so little time seems extreme.

Any tips, is it worth pulling the head off for a look or just get a rebuild kit and get on with it?

We have one use to burn loads of oil, rebuilt doesn’t burn any! Still blue smoke, but never did the injectors
