Case 956xl Hydraulic Filter

Hi I've recently bought a case 956xl and wanted to change the hydraulic filter am i right in that this is where the hydraulic filter is located? Are there two filters? What is the third cannister for? Tia

I can’t remember exactly? 4wd? I think you do them all at the same time. Early ones only had 2 filters there and a spin on one…..

Morning welger rp220, @Gapples is the man to ask. Looking at your photograph and according to an 856xl owners handbook your tractor is fitted with the Combi-Filter; the filter holder rear right hand side on a 856 [ same set of filters ] is the pressure filter [operating circuit ] the middle front is the pilot pressure unit and the rear left hand side is the pressure filter [pilot circuit ].
You change the two rear filters installing new seals rings and spacers. The book says tighten by hand then loosen by half a turn. I believe you are suposed to check the front centre pilot pressure unit every 800 hours to see that it is clean. Be careful not to over tighten that one as it can deform if I remember correctly, Angus.

Yes the 2 heavy canisters closer to the engine are the hydraulic filters.

The tin pot at the front is the pilot pressure unit.
There is a metal gauze filter in there that should be cleaned ( if required ) at the same time as you do the hydraulic oil and filters, about every 1000 hours.

In order to get them off do i just unscrew the nut under each cannister?
Are the cannisters screwed in on a thread into the housing?

Yes they just unscrew, the 2 heavy ones at the back maybe very tight and I mean very tight !
