Case CS78

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows why my CS78 will not move forward or move in reverse. It was working fine the other day and have no indication that it was going to break. Everything thing works as it should but just won’t move. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction as I don’t know where to start looking. Many thanks

Is it manual or electric shuttle? I've no experience with the brand personally but just thinking it could be a fuse or somthing? Mostly it the simple things that mess you about.

It's a manual transmission so either the clutch or transmission or power-splitter [if fitted] are, in technical terms, fooked.

That doesn't necessarily mean that its a huge repair, before you get all depressed on us.

It’s a manual transmission, so what’s the process to get it sorted
Experienced mechanic of Case dealer.
1. Phone them.
2. Get them to come out or to truck the tractor as they see fit.
3. Get it repaired.
4. Get it back
5. Pay the no-doubt expornitant bill but thank the Lord it wasn't a posh car with labour at £100/hour or more.

I phoned a dealer who said they will get back to me but I haven’t heard back from them probably due to the fact they can not plug a laptop into it.
I’m not bothered about cost just want it sorted and don’t want the bill for them replacing pretty much every part on the tractor until they get the right one.

Is there any change of noise as you depress the clutch pedal? Are all the gear levers in gear? Assume it’s got a 1-4 gear lever , a high/low etc lever and a shuttle lever? Have you had someone wiggle the levers while you look underneath

No noise change when i push the clutch and yes has all of those levers. I haven’t had someone moving levers whilst I check linkage but will tomorrow ?

Tell the dealer what you want done, like "come out to sort it" or "send a truck".
This cannot be equivalent to rocket science, because it is as simple a tractor as you can get these days more or less.

Wash the damn thing thoroughly before they arrive because you probably wish to avoid paying £45 to £60/hour for them to wash it before they can start repairing it....'common-sense'!

Is it dry clutch or wet clutch? If it was dry clutch you would hear it metal to metal if linein was gone. If it wet clutch id say clutch switch. Does it feel normal to put into gear?

Had a feeling you’d say that, monkeys normally get paid peanuts and stay in trees..
Dont worry about the duck, he means well and his quack is worse than his bite.
the CS78 is a tractor produced by Steyr and very few were sold in the UK
they were generally a strong simple tractor with few problems.
Tunstall tractors of Kirkby Stephen may be the guys to talk to

Quite a few were sold by Riverlea tractors. Never was keen on them myself but I'm sure they are fine quality machines.
