Our new David case brown 1394 after being delivered seemed to not be coasting very much when you dipped the clutch? So I found a ceased handbrake cable, now when you drive along and push the brake pedal the right hand side snatches very suddenly.

I’m aware this is a David brown foible and there’s talk of carrier pins being loose and getting into the final drives? How do I even attempt this, I have all new brake cables etc if I need pads that’s no big issue,

Undo the bolt's to take the hub of and slide off might need gentle perssuassion
Have a stack of pallets under the hub to help take some of the weight or get some help remember what casestudy has said in his post
Check everything that should move does and everything else is tight the brake cam may need removing and cleaning and copper grease before refitting
The carrier pin can come loose and bind on the drum if so fit new spring washer and lock tight also check the condition of the slave cylinder for corrosion
And while you're at it check the linings and the half shaft seals if it's dry in the hub they're probably ok but if oily change them

Any idea what the bolts should be done back up to? I assume it’s just a case of sliding the shaft all the way out? Do I need to drop the back end out out?

wiring the diff lock pedal down ensures ? I’ve seen this on the dB forum but it looks fairly inactive so not sure how fast I’d get a reply on it.
