Well can anyone give me some advice on clutch adjustment on a Case IH 885L? It has a threaded rod from the clutch pedal so what way does it adjust etc. Any advice as usual is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

As the clutch wears, the pedal rises and you loose free play. Slacken the lock nut on the lower clevis, remove the clevis pin and screw the clevis up the rod to shorten it. You should have about an inch of free play downwards before the release bearing pushes against the pressure plate. Is the clutch slipping?

If your 885L has a 12 inch Rockford clutch in it & expect it will, you have no free play, the clutch pedal is held down by a spring.
If you pull up on the pedal you feel a spring pulling the pedal down.
The thrust bearing in this set up runs constantly again the fingers of the clutch pressure plate.
So you basically adjust the pedal height back down a bit.
It sounds like you are getting clutch drag anyway, provided there's enough effective travel on the pedal the issue will be internal & the tractor will need split.
You can take the plate off under the clutch housing & have a look in with a torch, a common failure to cause this was thrust bearing failure & wearing down the pressure plate adjustable bolts.

Perfect reply!!!
These clutch setups often catch people out and adjusting them to get free play can often damage the release bearing setup, seen it a few times with guys trying save a few quid oh I'll adjust it myself....... Bang!

I'm glad I didn't type my reply after yours
