Case MX 170 as rowcrop tractor

I am currently using a Case IH 5150 as my rowcrop tractor. But since starting with irrigation last year I would like to have a tractor with a bit more weight to pull my irrigation machines.

Since I have two MX 170 it would be a good idea to start using one of them, but because of my onion crops I need to use 150 cm wheel spacing... and I am a bit concerned about stability and most of all turning radius if I use such a big tractor with such a small wheel spacing?

Anyone tried a MX 170 with 150 cm wheel spacing or maybe other tractors of similar size? Any opinions appreciated!

Btw anyone know what size of rowcrop tyres that a comparable heightwise to 650/65R42?

I think 380/90 r50 are about 40mm taller, that's what we use anyway to replace same size wheels, and if you go on YouTube and watch them harvesting spuds in holland with 200hp+ tractors most of them are on 150cm spacing and seem to manage fine

Thanks for the info, I guess you are right about that. But it would be nice to know exactly how badly the narrow wheel placement affects turning radius. I heard that a JD 6170R had a horribly bad turning circle with row crops on.

What size is the front wheels that work with 380/90R50?

Think ours are 380/85 r34, but I'll double check in morning, if your on 540/65 R30's now that should be the size match but I'd ask dealer first to be sure. Can't comment on turning circle as have never done it myself! I guess you could have a rough idea just by measuring current track width, put it on full lock and measuring half the track width difference and tyre width closer to chassis, might help you decide whether it's feasible before spending any money!

Edit: Checked wheels and I was correct at 380/85 R34
