Not my tractor, just helping the guy from local forum. And it is an interesting topic to mechanics.

They have repaired the engine (new rings, pistons, liners). However, the problem still persist. The leak was so bad, it left oil tray on the way to the field and pushed out 10 litres of oil.

Does anybody experienced anything like this or could give some ideas

10 l that sounds like a crack in an oil port, did think it was excessive blowby on the rings but if the engine was partially rebuilt this is hardly likely unless it broke all the oil scraper rings on initial start up but I have never seen it happen ........................................

It seems that rebuild was supposed to be a remedy for oil leak, but it didn't help, so probably wasn't an issue at first place. The whole cover should be filled with oil, I hardly can imagine how is that possible.

Is there a flow restrictor in the valve train oil supply. If there is it may have failed and be allowing the rocker cover or tappet chest to flood.I had a Nuffield that flooded the workshop when started for the first time after a rebuild, never could find the cause, though it would only dump oil if left idling, in the end, I changed the rocker cover for one with a breather and blocked off the original breather on the tappet cover. Problem solved.

why did they open up the engine in the first place?......was it because of the oil blow-by?
what did they find when they repaired the engine? Were rings broken? were liners replaced?

what oil is being used in the engine?
