Have any of you been to south of Swift Current in Saskatchewan ?
I believe Mike farms at Bracken which is south of Swift Current.
I have been to Swift Current and south to
Val Marie which is just east of Bracken.
One certainly needs to be born and breed in that area to cope with the desolate countryside. I certainly can’t see many English women coping with that desolation for long, in the summer yet alone the long winters!!!!
Forgot to say some Saskatchewan friends of mine live in Val Marie who preserve the “Val
Marie” elevator, and I was fortunate enough to be allowed to use the elevator man hoist!
That was a great experience.

Mike Mitchells massive estate runs both of these tractors so he is the perfect person to give their pros and cons. Given that several green machines have ousted red ones round here I was expecting a JD win...…………………..I was surprised!! Mikes a decent chap too.
Probably the reason green has replaced red is the fact that the owners probably were jd fans and once jd released a 4 track machine they shifted

we travelled west through swift current 4yrs ago on holiday . didn't stop but the land/farming seemed to change for the better around there going east. wish i could go back but unlikely due to age.

Very true Davey and the JD does look nice as well. Also all the JD RX on my patch are 9620s and the red machines they replaced were 600s, 550s, 500s but not the current 620. And judging by Mikes comments the 620 will only be better with a big in cab upgrade in the 2021 machine. Personally I prefer the Quad, it just looks meaner than the pretty green & yellow machine ;) and according too Mike it pulls noticeably better as well.

I suspect it wont be long until the 670hp tracked Fendt arrives on Mr Mitchells farm, that looks an awesome beastie:)

I know somebody working for Monette Farms somewhere near Swift Current, they are a massive operation, much bigger than Mike Mitchells one, think its about 160000ac over a few states and the USA.
The pics and videos he's sent back are very impressive.
They are finished harvest, and I see he is touring about a bit, be interested to see if he can hack the winter or if he will appear back.
Can't see a Saskatachewan winter being anything other than bleak.
