Caterpillar D2 serial number

Can anyone tell me where I can find the machine serial number on my Cat D2 please.

Depends how old it is, has it got a pony engine ? The one I played with as a boy had a ID Plate next to the pony clutch lever, also think it was stamped on the rear of the transmission housing,above the drawbar. But , it was 40 years ago.......!

Usually below dash where the clutch pedal would be or at the back as Tom says

Does she run. Got one going a couple of years back that laid up for best part of 40 years.

Week point is the combustion chambers which surround the injectors.They rust trough for a pastime!They can however be welded and machined back, but its a fiddly job, I had to do all four on my D2
