Cattle on cleared rainforest.

I’ve seen land being cleared in South America and it was always cattle for a few years before being cropped. I always thought it was more to do with grazing out small trees and allowing roots to decompose more than regulation. The above post does however sound familiar.

Appreciate we are all back-slapping and no one wants a hard truth but 77% of the total acerage is used in livestock feed. You can't escape that with weasel words around value
It’s not black and shite like you and the vegans seem to think

The great deforestation of the UK accelerated from the beginning of the 20th Century. Not so long ago. It started with the industrial evolution and peaked to service the great wars of the early 20thC, not for building or even boats. Since the Second World War there has been a massive increase in forested area, although a high proportion are conifers, but I'm not sure how the area now compares with the early Victorian era and before. Very little was cleared for agriculture.

I don't think that's true, 77% of the bulk may be used in livestock feed but that's the meal as opposed to the oil which we use. Every acre produces a mix of both so it's not true to go on acreage.

And also, I’m not sure if growing it just for oil or just for animal feed is economically viable. So who’s to say that just because 70% is used for animal feed, that is all it’s grown for. In the least, it’s being flexible with the truth

The meal is just the left overs after Oil extraction. Its like saying Oilseed Rape is grown for cattle feed.
