I can remember you running cows and calves up Plymouth Road, was quite a sight. Used to do similar ourselves but not through the centre of town.

Not that many years since all the cattle coming off the ferries from the islands, would land in Oban and used to just drop the doors and let all the cattle out. They would then be walked right through the town centre into the market to be sorted into individual buyers lots and then loaded onto the trucks.
Used to save a fortune on transport as hardly any trucks needed to go out to the sale on the islands.

Powder mills to Taviton used to be quite a spectacle, think they had a pic in the WMN, not sure if its still done

Dad used to put sheep out there maybe 55 years ago. there was a collection of fishing rods hung in the garage so i guess there was salmon in the river;)
The mortars for testing the powder were still there then.
it was also the goto place to get warts and ringworm charmed.
Mr...... had a good bitch which he put to dads scottish dog, we got two wonderful pups from that, Nell and Ben.
