Cattle udder fly repellant

Having serious bother with flies this year, they're all over my heifers' teats. All cattle have had regular pour ons but needing teat protection.

Just wondering seen as Stockholm Tar doesn't provide protection for long can I put Crovect in a plant sprayer and spray direct on cow teats? I know it's not licensed for that but anyone tried it? Does it work?

I’m not sure I’d do that given that with sheep it’s not advisable to spray directly on bare skin (that’s had flystrike)

and let them decide where they want to be to get away from the flies

Stockholm tar once a week
Feed something with garlic
Lemongrass and cintrello oil (spelling not correct I think) are good natural fly repellent

Citronella oil was what I used to use on the nags.
Spot on or similar on cattle. But we think it’s less effective than it used to be.

Yes we seem to have gotten a bit immune to Spot On [emoji848]

We use an udder salve called Red Biddy which I believe contains Citronella. It is effective but needs to be put on every week
