CCTV for farm security

We have 4 yards which are all connected up to the same wifi. I have had a quote for putting in a camera system to cover the key areas. It would have a central recording thingy and mobile app. It works out at £650 ish per camera for installation across the sites. There are some reasonably long cable runs involved. It’s cheaper than other quotes I have had but still feel it seems an expensive way of doing it. I want a decent quality system and not sure that the kits you can buy would quality or be tat easy to install. What have others done or found when doing this?

I installed several cameras myself over the years, using a network drive to store footage and ipad app to view. It worked well and wasn't that hard to setup, although I dread to think how much time I spent over the years installing and then "fiddling" to get things working. A couple of years ago I wanted to add another 5 cameras and increase recording capacity. I bit the bullet and got a firm from Hull to install a proper system. They were able to incorporate all but 2 of my existing cameras (old technology) into the new system. Cost was £2500 for PVR, installing 5 new cameras and connecting (configuring) 8 existing cameras. Plus whatever I'd spent over the years on my cameras. New system works very well, better than my previous DIY system, but that's more down to improved kit than getting the pros in. If you have the time and inclination then a DIY system is perfectly doable, but it will require some knowledge of computer networks, config etc. Or a part DIY, part pro route might be best. Hikvision seems to be the "go to" brand at the moment and isn't expensive.

If you are good with tech then it is possible to set up your own CCTV but it takes a bit of expertise to nail it first time and get a really good result. The £650 a camera doesn't sound too bad based on the fact a typical 2 camera setup with 100m worth of cable and two access points (Wireless) would set you back £1000 just in parts i.e. NVR, UPS, cabinets, surge protectors, switches and all the other associated components... Most of the cost is in the labour of installation when you start adding more than a couple of cameras as the additional cameras and cabling aren't the expensive bit but installing them to a good standard takes time.

I would recommend you to check Ajax systems. They offer progressive technologies and modern solutions. I think they will be able to deal with your issue. But the only one thing. They do not produce cameras. I guess they will recommend you the better option for you. You can order cameras from another company. And Ajax providers will connect them to the system. As their data technology and all the service opportunities are on the highest level, it is worthy.
