Cement Stabilisation

We need to do something with our Farm Drive. Tarmac is hideously expensive (£65m2) DIY Concrete will be £20m2 excluding labour and will take ages as we will need probably 4 pours minimum. We cannot shut down the drive for that long. Cement stabilisation can be done for £10m2 and could be done in 2 days + 2 before lorries run on it.
Has anyone got any experience of this method? What sort of life does the finished work have? Do we need to tar and chip the surface? (another £6) Will it stand up to HGV use? etc etc.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole again...... And no way would it stand up to HGV in our experience.

Had a go with stabilisation and wouldn't waist your money !! The pot holes have returned with avengence especially as the sourounding area is harder so creates a solid step rather than a smooth hole if that makes sense

Concrete it properly first as last

Have heard good and bad reports, get some references and go and see some bits, get any bends concreted tho

I would definitely just concrete it, might be hard to working around it for a week but if done right you'll never have to do it again which is worth hell of a lot.

Concrete all the time, a neighbour spent £16k on his 'stabilised' drive last year, the result is now a terrible mess of hardcore,mud and stabilised material !! and will need to be completely redone. This is a driveway that has no HGV traffic, a LR discovery being the largest vehicle.

You could do it with concrete sleepers. Will cost half as much and can be driven on that night.

Would ring around for pricces for tarmac, a neighbour had the road to his farm tarmaced a few years ago, a proper job with a paver, worked out at £7 m2.
Did cost him £17k to do it all !!!
