Lol they really are clueless , he says there if farmers start taking the Mickey and turfing tenants out and putting whole estates into the scheme we will have to take action , :banghead:

The farmers are just using the scheme to it's full , if they didn't want whole farms going it in they should of set the parimiters from the start .

How to get ahead in politics

1. come up with an expensive, ill thought out policy

2. consult selected biased stakeholders for validation

3. implement policy, regardless of popular opinion

4. Slowly realise you may have fecked up

5. blame as many other people as possible

6. resign

7. keep quiet for 18 months

8. resurface as a very vocal critic of your own policy

There’ll be a new version of the handbook out soon with a section ‘What constitutes taking the Mickey’.

He’s spot on. SFI : quickest way to tank the rural economy.
I am unsure how you can make that claim, sure the machinery boys will suffer along with some of the input companies (they have had it easy for years with their % margin regardless) But I actually think it won't suffer, money will still come in, just in a different guise, it will still be spent, just in slightly different areas.
I find it amusing to a degree, everyone moaning the loss of the SFP and now we've been gifted with something else that in some cases will generate far more income for far less work and we're all moaning.
I would have thought in your case @DrWazzock it would have been perfect for your setup, put the lot down to a scheme, sit back and chill out, no Red Tractor, no ADHB, no NFU. Certainly here I shall use the money to do up my buildings with an eye to rent out if needed at a later date.

Yep I agree but the very ones who were calling the sfp 'dole money' are milking this cash cow
the hardest.Hypocrisy is too kind a word.

I agree with you but we are all businesses, what would Tesco et all do if they were in the same situation?? They'd maximise anything and everything they could get, so why should us farmers be any different??
I just checked the Wheat price £165/March, £188/Nov, all pretty depressing........

Yes for my personal circumstances it is fine but I feel like “I’m alright Jack.” I won’t be frequenting the parts department, the fittings and fasteners shop, Mole Valley, the vets, etc etc. I’m more likely to use the cash to top up my pension. Organisations like farmers cooperatives, central storage etc are getting jittery as they can see volumes plummeting and without volume they could become unviable. This then affects those who are still cropping.
So yes I agree it’s easy enough for us to say goodbye to RT and all of that crap but in rural areas with little other industry I can see it having quite a negative impact. Should I care? Maybe not.

Quite you have to run a business it's just amusing that those who
have been crying wolf about the bps are set to benefit the most.

I could get £50k off 200 acres for doing next to nothing after the first year of establishment. I don’t know whether that makes me happy or sad TBH. But every feckin niggly thing that comes into my in tray including NRoSO, sprayer MOT, increased AHDB levies moves another step closer to taking the money. Though actually I’m not quite there yet as I can see the sheep and stubble turnips preceding spring barley doing better than over winter cover or grass and pollinator option. And while my niece is still interested in the sheep I’m not going to put her off. I’m torn TBH.

How many of those listed have been watching your back?
Perhaps it's time to think about yourself.
