Cheap and cheerful ways to weigh cattle

With four steers it's hard to justify a weigh crush.
Apart from tape measures, does anyone have a suggestion for weighing short of 4 visits to the local weighbridge?

build a big see saw...crush on one end...ibc on other....beast in crush then fill ibc til balanced....water is 1kg/l......sorry

Set of weigh bars and a false floor in your race. Any other way will be hassle and cost you more in the long run. Can make the false floor out of 2” box, plywood and tek screws. No need to be a welder.

That's a great idea, shame Red Poll isn't in the list. But then if I was that bothered about maximum weight gain I guess I'd be with a different breed! [emoji16]

i havent really looked in to it TBH , i dont really know how it works and certainly hadn't thought about selecting the breed from a list !

It’s also about the same cost as a cheap set of weigh bars.

Only issue with the weigh bars is they need properly fastening down and fastening to the crush so the whole lot doesn't scate off into the yard when the lively lim charges in and gets stopped by the yoke....

We used a weigh tape for several years, was accurate enough to give you a rough idea of weight. However it wasn't great if you wanted to weigh regularly and work out growth rates etc.
Bought a set of load bars off @Allied Weighing last month, and they've been great. Were a reasonable price too at just over 600quid Inc vat and delivery

Did our fathers keep weighing cattle?????? a expert told me last week cattle needed at least another month,grade sheets this week said no ,up to weight and grade.Her in doors said they are fit.
