Sorry, just picked this up.
the flue has a horizontal run out of the stove then vertical up the chimney. A fan would stop smoke coming into the room during stoking or dust when cleaning. A fan that doesn't hinder the draw during normal burning would be ideal. Any experience with these?
Oh right - I've looked at them when considering a long horizontal run from a gas Aga. So you need a fan for it to work.
On our normal brick chimneys the draw is good enough that lightweight dust gets pulled away naturally. I doubt anything heavier would get taken up with the fan. If I've opened the back first I never have smoke entering the room when stoking. Maybe you need to have a look at the cowl and see if there's anything affecting draw?
Building control and Hetas regulations stipulate that a horizontal flue may only be 150mm or 8" long directly out the back of the boiler. Your flue installation is obviously against the regs and you do not need a flue fan but a correctly installed flue.
