Chinese virus - 2019-nCoV,

Well Taiwan seems to have got a handle on it. They have had 17 new cases, all tracked back from people returning home.

They implemented a travel ban early on, against WHO advice while all of Europe was vowing to keep borders open, going skiing and all those things which infectious diseases thrive on.
By failing to limit international travel early on we gave this virus the best start it could possibly need.
But did we ever have any will to contain it? I am not sure we did. Yet where it started they go all out to contain it.

Can’t really understand it, but to my mind western governments were too weak in the early stages possibly because their public can’t be told.
So now we face the consequences. A very hard and sad lesson that we can’t always have it our own way all the time if we want long term security and prosperity.

There's all sorts of nonsense flying about as usual, things like,
the Chinese started it to screw the US, the US started it to screw China.

There's no way China would start it intentionally (in China) now that all the world are reliant on Chinese made goods.

It does seem a big coincidence that there is a "Wuhan Institute of Virology" just round the corner from the initial outbreak.

We all remember how FMD leaked from a lab in Surrey in 2007...

Just been listening to an NZ report saying that resuscitation creates an aerosol of virus and so only be used in the vicinity of the fewest possible other people in the same airspace - So if you are in the “NHS Nightingale” don’t expect to be resuscitated.

In fact if you are over 70 or in a “vulnerable” category don’t expect even being considered for resuscitation at all.
