Thinking of getting a contractor in to chop straw with a roto grind , any idea how much room extra a bale takes up once chopped ? how many hesstons would fit in a 14 tonne silage trailer

A rather disappointing amount I fear.
I have moved loose straw (broken bales) from an outlying straw barn back to farm, fills up quickly with little weight.

As a rough guide, 2 artic loads of straw quarter filled a 1200t grass clamp.
However intakes quadrupled and waste halved or more so it is well worth while

Has to be the untidiest jobs going,if it’s windy the straw blows away if it’s still it’s all over the feckin place, coupled with once the roto grind gets empty it throws straw up into the air.

I doubt you’ll get 8t in 105 cubic meters.
