Anyone else normally drilled up by now and not started.

Ditches are down and water is getting away but it's sitting on top and drains have been jetted last year etc so they should be fine.
It's like it's sat on top but there must be 6 inch of water to plough in more in places
West Lancashire

It's shite

Yep, normally drilled up and machines put away for the winter by now and just got 2 fields drilled today but not brilliant conditions. Just seems to dry enough to get drilling and we get another chunk of rain.

Neighbour is ploughing but it's wet and struggling to walk on some of ours. Don't know whether to either forget about it all or try and plough it in

That's serious amount of rain, it'll dry on the east side I'd of thought. Near like forfar?
Yes, just to the east. Not much of the lovely forfarshire soil here though, mostly balrownie sandy loam with a tendency towards impervious clay subsoil. Not ideal in wet year🫣

Here in Essex its been mid 20's for the last week or so, no moisture in the soil. If i drilled wheat now it wouldn't grow its so dry. It will turn VERY quickly though when it does!

Fields here are traveling remarkably well for October.

This field is peat land, McHale fusion hasn't left a mark.
