Afternoon
I never read instructions, but for some reason I've stuck my head in the owners manual of my new (to me) Disco 3550.

I found this in there:

I can't say I've ever heard of an overrunning clutch needing to be routinely serviced, I just grease them regularly and don't point the water blaster in there.......maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years.

Can anyone enlighten me on exactly what this is supposed to achieve?

Had one once that would skip a couple of times before taking up the drive. Turned out it was full of muck. Cleaned it out and it was fine.

I wouldn't bother doing it routinely if it was working ok, though.

I always pull all clutches apart and service before a machine is retailed.
Overrun are the least likely to give bother but they do get full of muck. Always surprising how many are bone dry.

Torque limiting and friction clutches are nearly always seized up

Thanks, that makes sense. It's working well, been greased regularly and it's only two seasons old - I'll leave it be for now.
