Excellent tractor ...... probably one of the best we've ever hired. Did everything asked of it and more. Extremely frugal when compared to a challenger and far far more versatile. On paper a 939 would be more versatile than a xerion but I used the hired one for corn carting on a 12t trailer for a few days, so it depends what you mean by versatile?

It just wasn't man enough for the job asked of it at the time and it was swapped for a challenger 865 which subsequently liked to use 120l/hour spot rate .......... This is in turn was swapped for a 939 which again when worked hard liked 80l/hour spot rate. obviously averages were less and iirc the xerion averaged about 40l/hour which was pulling a 6m solo and 6m rapid drill. It just couldn't get enough forward speed with the solo for effective chopped straw mixing and left lumps due to the slower speed, hence why it left.

The only negative were the 800 tyres as it did reduce the turning circle a lot compared to a 3300 on 650's which was also on hire at the same time, so as a happy medium I would go for the tall 710mm tyres if possible. I think they were 710 / 85 .......
Thanks Lee, I agree a tall 710 would make it good job, not too wide on road either

Was it a 3800 you had for solo?

How did you find it as a drilling tractor
