No, @delilah , I’m not saying any of those things.

Do not “put words into my mouth “.

And yes, I have objected to what the Oooooohhhhhhh….. thread has become if you want to bother to look back.

You crack on. You’re only happy when you’re unhappy about something, but you won’t spoil my day.

Unless you come back with rudeness, personal insults and disrespect, I’m out.
Just put him on ignore as I did a while ago.

Clarkson's Farm is entertainment, that is what Netflix does. If you want information on spraying rates, feed conversion ratios, soil conditioning etc you would look elsewhere. Did people in the car industry criticise Top Gear for a lack of technical information on the models they were testing ?
Top gear lost the plot like a lot of other stuff nowadays, was time when it was quite technical and useful for buying a car base knowledge then it just got silly.
which is what most programs are these days sensationalistic and flishy flashy with its presenters more just interested in their own celebrity / financial development.

I would argue that he has been a good ambassador for UK ag. Most, if not all farmers I know have watched and enjoyed it.

The comment "He has done more for farming in one series than 20 years of Countryfile" has been made several times.

And several non farmers have said to me how well he explains everything and they how they never realised farming was so difficult.

Yes it's an entertaining programme with lots of hammed up drama like the telegraph pole incident, but he's a good narrator and his comedic approach to everything makes it a good watch.
I'd consider that a pretty fair and accurate assessment of it overall.

farming and an interest in the country side ,which goes (or shopuld do) hand in hand with ,
aint about money and farting about with machinery all the time, atvs etc anyonme who seems to think it is should be in anothe rline of work maybe.

Beechgrove garden is a good little program (because growing things is its focus and that surely should be a farmers?) and Landward is ok for bigger picture and way better than CF,

challenge the what pick up what tractor what new toy is next and you will be singled out for a chip on the shoulder type comment from some unthinking geezer who no doubt has some psychological issue niggling them, see it often not unusual, just ignore it and continue with the object view point, as yes that is healthy for us all surely.

Happy days.

It might be that those ‘chippy’ comments come about as a result of the way some responses are worded? ;)

I would say that in comparison to Mr Clarkson we on here are mere amateurs when it comes to hurtful comment :

In an article for the paper published on Friday, Clarkson wrote that he loathed Meghan “on a cellular level”. He said he was “dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.

can get prime on free trial and watch the lot then make sure you stop it before they take the first instalment, or that used to be the case.
The thing about amazon is, they don't mind password sharing, indeed they actively accommodate it, so one payment can easily be shared amongst an entire family circle making it pretty decent value.

Used to be very anti-amazon, daughter who pays for the prime is very pro-amazon.

But while I won't ever sing their praises, I can no longer argue with her* that they don't deserve our business because I'd be wrong, they do what they do extremely well and have become massive on the back of that primarily.

There must be at least 10 people who use her prime account for buying stuff if required yet we can all have out own name and shipping address on the account and switching between them is so simple and easy it's ridiculous. If government and it's associated agencies could do IT anything like as competently and efficiently it would transform the country.

Couriers and delivery used to be a bit of a fly in the ointment with their service, so what did Amazon do?, ..........................they set up their own bespoke Global delivery network and done it themselves.

In this day and age of failure and mediocrity, it's hard to knock someone or something who does something really well.

I have just returned to Norfolk having spent a couple of days in the Cotswolds.I paid a visit to Diddly Squat farm.Car park FULL at 10.00hrs.,with people in the shop and or in the barn having coffee. I had a good opportunity to talk to folk and 99% were from NON farming backgrounds, but appreciated the efforts being made to put good food on their table/s.
Next trip was to the Hawkstone Brewery to see Kaleb's malting barley put to good use along with some wheat in the form of vodka. An enjoyable few days away from a cold and damp Norfolk.

It is real farming. It doesn't matter whether he makes a profit or not but he is farming nonetheless.
I rarely laugh out loud at the TV but I did with this. Of course there is entertainment but lots of the mistakes and breakages have been made by ,'proper' farmers too.
He is growing stuff though obviously switches from rearing one animal to another to keep it interesting but highlights the problems.
Certainly isn't just letting some celebrities loose to follow a script.
