Lol,
with only 2 straps, on the tractor,
one forward and one back wards,
Think you would have bigger things to worry about,

I would be tempted to agree with you. 1x4t strap holding a 4t load in either direction seems risky to me; I’d do at least that with a grey Fergi on an ifor williams; but more likely with the addition of a third over the gearbox.

I no longer drive, Hgv
my loads are on 20ft behind Discovery,
Possibly chain, but anything to alleviate failure. Of only one strap,
In my driving years, was involved in 3 incidents, none my doing, but grateful lo

i normally use 2 chains if i have to shift a tractor, but they lay in the lowloader toolbox for the digger anyway. one over the back whhels going forward, other through the front towing eye or around the front axle going back. both chins to chassis not side rails

I never said anything about the other straps though, just explained what the one over the roof was doing.

I’m sitting on fence here but personally would lash down to satisfy DVSA to save the hassle and make sure it’s not going anywhere. But when working for a dealer saw hundreds of brand new and second hand tractors moved by hauliers strapped like the photos, even saw artic loads with first one driven against headboard, other three tight against each other and a strap over the back wheels of the last one

I’m sitting on fence as well,
Nothing to do with me,
But,
No way is a load strapped like that, going to stay on in the event of an incident.
Then you have to explain yourself,

Use to be involved in Engineering machinery transportation, we would normally deliver and install said machines,
However, client found own transportation due cost, for injection moulder, weighing approx 6 ton, collected on curtain sider, threw a couple of straps over machine, his error was pointed out,
4 hrs later we get a call, injection moulder is laying on the floor at a roundabout on the isle of Anglesey, Luckily not killing anyone, !!
