Is there a reason for the long bolts in the batter boards?
I have no idea and wondered same myself.
They were on there when we got it.
They have little holes drilled for a lynch pin or r clip.
Wondered if they had small lengths chain attached to level.
Or some sort tine like a home made double tool bar perhaps..
I didn't get on with them and took them off and put new bar with green tines on as they kept getting big flints wedged under then blocked.
To be honest they were supposed to fit two rows green tines but bit mis communication has resulted in boards and tines..
I'll give them one more go and if no good put row tines on..

Nick I used same drill, with batter boards and green tines last autumn. Took some setting up (Geoff came out in the end), but once srt up them batter boards and tines did a fantastic job

Trouble with them is you need certain amount pressure on them which is fine till a big lump flint size of a small rugby ball gets pulled up and wedges under the board resulting in big blockage..

You will need every bit of the 8870 hp Nick!
It's not a problem with just the drill. Sits at a steady 10-12k's.
20% of the reason for getting hopper would been to put weight further out as front wheels do slip a bit on hills when hit clay patch..
I have a 8970 that sits in shed when drilling.
The worst way I'll put the drill on that and the big Hesston on the 88.
Have to swap pick up hitch and draw bar over as well as the wheels though..
