Even IPCC admit there are less 'weather events' now than historically.
I honestly think the seasons are changing, certainly from when I was a kid in the 70’s , but I have always been of the thinking that’s it’s natural cycles.
Re flooding etc , when towns and villages rapidly expand on to flood meadows, with block paved drives, then where do they expect the water to go

Some little know facts:
1. CO2 is about 0.04% of the atmosphere.
2. Humans contribute about 3% of the CO2.
3. Total human CO2 atmosphere is about 0.0012%.
4. CO2 needs to increase to improve plant growth & increase crop yields by 4-5 times the present levels.
5. One volcanic eruption puts out more CO2 than hundreds of thousands of years of humans.
6. The oceans & seas put out the majority of the CO2.
7. The land vegetation absorbs the majority of the CO2.

We need a cleaner planet, less plastics, more recycling etc. A completely different argument from all the CO2 stuff. Packaging companies are amongst the richest companies, so nothing will be done.

Err, if any of you carnhts were in the southern hemisphere, you might think differently about climate & change . . .

The climate is changing.
Always has, always will.
How, why and to what extent it is due to humans is complex.
I'm sure we are causing some of it.
I'm sure the current attempts to address climate change is more about making money than actually addressing the issue.
I would think that whichever hemisphere I lived in.

At least you should be OK from flooding, I reckon you're a few metres above the flood plain..... ;)

We are very close to the minimum CO2 level in the atmosphere required to allow plants to survive. Any significant reduction will not only reduce crop yields but prevent plant growth altogether.
As I understand it, plants cannot extract CO2 out of the atmosphere below 0.025%.
We are at 0.04% at the moment.
If the levels did drop to a level that plants could no longer extract CO2 from the atmosphere and photosynthesis, then all life on earth would end. But I really cannot see that happening. It will always balance itself out.
As CO2 increases, plants extract more of it. As it reduces, plants can no longer extract as much, therefore the CO2 levels increase and plants can extract it again.
The most extraordinary thing is that plants can extract any CO2 at such low levels anyway!
0.04% is the same as 40 pence out of £1,000.

Greenhouse tomato production can increase CO2 levels with the greenhouse to 5%, to increase tomato production. People are still able to happily work within those greenhouses. When it gets to 11% is when people will suffer from Hypocarbia.
Which IIRC was the level of CO2 that the Apollo 13 crew suffered, until they modified the Command Module square Calcium Hydroxide ‘scrubber’ canister to fit the Lunar Module round hole.

Great post, last bit especially.

All the chat about climate, greenhouse gases and CO2 specifically is a highly damaging distraction from other real and quantifiable problems.
