Cochlear implants

My nephew was born deaf and he had cochlear implants last year at the age of 3. Its totally tranformed his life and its amazing how quick he got used to it and caught up with everything. I think its the sort of thing the younger the better as its easier for them to adapt to it.

My mum had a cochlear implant about 8 years ago. Amazing. Lots of checks to see if you have the correct positive attitude to make it work. Has transformed her life. She was about 72 when she had it done.

I believe the hearing loss needs to be profound. If normal hearing aids help then the NHS will not consider implants.
If going private, then another matter.
