Has anyone been diagnosed? Has diagnosis actually helped with anything?
Consultant wants to test baby mtx but he'd have to be put back on a wheat heavy diet and I'm not sure it's worth it :scratchhead:

I've just had the blood test results back, it's a fasting blood test. I didn't have to eat any wheat for it. I'm not coeliac. But probably gluten intolerant, his advice was not to bother trying to get the tests for that done as they're not that reliable. Oh he did advise me not to eat bread if it upsets me.

Haha sounds like the consultant we know
As he's strictly wheat free they've said he'd need a wheat diet again for 6 weeks for the results to be accurate.
We know he's allergic to it so I'm not sure if it's worth it, unless it helps in anyway

Have you had a full screen done? Sorry I can't remember if you have or not. Mum had it done privately and it showed up a whole screed of things she needs to avoid.
No he's had no tests apart from an ultra sound to rule out pyloric stenosis or how ever you spell it.
He has delayed reactions so all been done with food trials.
We are at a pretty good stage at the moment but on a very limited diet

I am not sure a firm diagnosis makes much difference as I think the treatment for coeliac disease is diet and thats what is happening at the moment isnt it ?
On the other hand you would know what you are dealing with one way or the other.

My Father in law is a Coeliac i am led to believe by my Mother in law (she is a paramedic thats studied Coeliacs heavily once we learned of his diagnosis) that if some one ignores/dismisses the diagnosis then it can lead to far more sinister conditions even triggering Cancer.

As for BabyMtx though if he is already wheat free then not sure what ypu would gain. Coeliac Uk or something like that is a good organisation that helped the father/mother in law with info.

Thank you for the reply (y)
Yes he's all ready wheat free and we've tried introducing a tiny amount back in to his diet and he reacted within hours so back to minimal diet :(
I shall have a look for some info on coeliac uk and see if they can help at all (y)

Under supervision for babies and children a ketogenic diet can be extremely varied. It's used for non-response to drug in epilepsy. Any of the keto sites give loads of recipes.

I mention this because the current govt and NHS dietary advice of low fat high carb frightens many folk off a high fat diet. Yet it is advocated by them in intractable disease.

I am certain that the current dietary advice is responsible for a vast amount of ill health.
