Is there no mini mix trucks working in your area?
I have investigated it once or twice. from recollection they don't like the narrow access much better than a 6/8 wheelers, and the price per cube shoots up.
It makes more sense taking bigger loads, buying half hour extra time, a retardant, and sweating a bit.

Consider buying a pan mixer?

still can't get aggregate in.... 7'10" max bridge

and anyway when I've costed mixing our own, I couldn't make it stack up....quizzing the local plant, they were using powerstation slag (is that right?) in the mix.

Fair enough.

They do tend to chuck all sorts of waste materials into products nowadays.

Same as the little bits of glass in breeze blocks, because they're made with incinerator bottom ash.

I was behind the scenes at a recycling/landfill operation backalong, and saw them making blocks out of glass. i can't say they looked much use, but it did mean that the glass was being 'recycled'

as for slag in the readymix, it has to meet spec, or they can't do it, so its fine by me
