collecting yard drainage

sorting collecting yard for dairy conversion and was thinking of using a twinwall pipe to transfer slurry/washing to slurry tank. anyone any experience of this. I know a channel would be better but tight for time and budget, pipe would be a quick way of dealing with it. looking at either a 450mm diameter or 600mm diameter. Total distance is only 24metres
Anyone done something similar?
thanks

I’ve dairy washings going down a 315mm pipe and it’s fine, also have slurry going down a 750mm pipe without a problem.

I've got to sort this problem as well at some point. What sort of distance is the slurry going in this pipe and what is the fall like? Do you ever get any problems with it or totally maintenance free? Thanks.

My only concern would be how weak twin wall joiners are and if they would stick dirty water for very long as could maybes lead to future problem if leaks are undetected

I’ve used 900mm twin wall pipe goes to the slats and all the way under shed ready for the next shed.just put some concrete round the joints, put it in level,in mine (as it’s for slurry)screwed a piece on wood in the end to hold the water in the bottom.best advice tho is above make it so you blast it out with the tanker

Slurry is going 140’ or so,set level with a 9” weir, because I built a box above with the slats on ,it sort of pushes slurry out with gravity.

It did block once but this was because the lagoon was full and it backed up the pipe,I pushed a 90mm mdpe pipe up it and connected it to the tanker jetter once the lagoon had dropped and it’s run ever since.

Farnells Agri Plastics carry large stocks of twin wall and coils.

Got all collecting yard slurry and parlour washing going 140ft of 24inch twin wall that is level through out the 140ft to the slurry pit. Blocked once in 10 years due to sand coming off cows feet in the collecting yard.

I could be wrong, but by the time you’ve paid for the big diameter twin wall the concrete to do the joints and over it, you could be a long way to paying for pre fab 600mm square channel with a slatted top.
