Coloured roofing sheets

Looking for advice on fibre cement roofing sheets and colours. I am told that coloured roofing sheets loose their colour quickly and flake. I am wanting to re roof a barn to match ideally the slate roofs of traditional barns next to them. What are others experience of painted/coloured fibre cement roofing sheets and durability? Would I be better looking at another option? Thanks

I have a slate blue roof on one shed that was put up in 1991 and the colour is still ok,

There are 2 options really.

1 is a farmscape sheet the colour is a dye that's incorporated into sheet structure. Is not coloured throughout just the top few layers in the sheets construction. As is a dye the colouring isn't as regular and there can be a fair difference between the sheets. The colour also fades over time but it can look well next to older coloured fibre cement sheeting, its also a bit cheaper.

2 is a painted sheet this give a much more consistent colour and you can have any colour if you are willing to pay for it. The slate blue is a nice colour, it blends in well to existing slate roofs. this colour will dull down a bit but its a painted finish so not as much as the dyed sheeting.

If there are stock in the building and you are looking to have the building sit well in the landscape I would suggest the slate blue painted sheets.

Got a slate blue roof here over 20 years old and no major difference in colour to new. Added 1k to cost of a 144x45 shed but told it was needed for planning.

Several buildings put up in "natural grey" fibre cement with no planning issues since so looks like that was a grand wasted.
