Article just popped up on my news feed that the retail consortium is warning shoppers of price rises on bread and cereals, wheat has gone up 14% in the past couple of weeks?!!

Yep. They conveniently forget to mention actual prices at all…..or the fact that is has halved in the past 12 months.

More PR by the supermarkets.

I would think there are a lot set to sell around £200 So market has plenty to go at, then price slips down again. If it is the establishment trying to hold prices down they are playing a dangerous game.

The "establishment" are not organised to do this. Nor would it be a priority for them. Nor is there really such a thing as the "establishment". There are however traders who are profit taking and, as Skimmer above says, a huge number of people selling on the up and flooding the market.

I assume each futures lot has an ID number. I would be interested to see the number of times on average lots are traded before they expire

Bit of a dilemna, half of me is thinking of I can see N of 200, sell a bit, but I do believe we are very much in the balance ATM. Locally I can see demand increasing Pig and poultry numbers are up. Ensus is running, a lot of the on farm stocks have been used now so my head is saying it should go up. My gut isn't so sure though. Thinking sell enough to cover costs and hold the rest. WHEN I finally see some in the store. I think it would have to be up 20quid before I sell any before I cut it
similar thinking here but every possible chance is being used by our end users /traders pushing grain/osr down along with every other ag output but our yields are so far not going to break any records either up or down and not just locally but uk and europe it seems

I'm still not sure about wheat, locally IF we ever get to it.

The Russians hit another port on the Danube this morning
That wants stopping, NATO have the power & the means.

It is also what got us into this mess shortage, not a shortage, shortage. If that grain cannot be exported in an orderely manner it will crash our markets totally at some point in the future.

Some think Ukraine having problems is maybe good for the grain market. Think if Putin wins, he is treating all this as a game of monoply. He wants to blackmail those countries in the middle east with cheap Russian grain to control them & manipulate oil markets & fertiliser markets.
