Combinables Price Tracker

When are the tractor prices going to come down? Is now the time to buy or wait? The dealers selling new kit are going to have a crap year at this rate.

I know off topic but the two are linked and I've got nothing to say about the abysmal price of wheat at the moment.

Just ordered one here, rep said they have over 150 new tractors in stock, manufacturer pushing them to order more after prices for new order ones went up 5% in February. we were happy with the price, think there are good deals to be done out there if you shop around

When have you known them to actually come down? They might alter their terms if you’re lucky.

Talking to a lorry driver this week, and he said that one of the big commercial stores nearby is still full to the rafters with grain owned by one of the ‘nationals’. I’m guessing it’s all planned tonnage for late season contracts, but it goes to show that they’re not trading hand to mouth, there isn’t the need for late season buying, and there probably won’t be a late shortage in the current marketing year.

In previous decades a ‘short’ in the market would move local prices, but with the commercial stores appearing like mushrooms it would appear it’s a thing of the past. Are these stores and harvest selling responsible for downward price pressure? Farmers no longer hold the cards if we’re not required for late season trading. Never mind “holding the cards”, with wheat futures tumbling through the 150’s, it feels like we haven’t been invited to the game.

Would that store be solely for home grown crops or imported as well?
