Hmm. Wonder what it is in the Midlands.....£1.28 probably.Feed Barley £180 ex May, £182 ex June
That's a good summary, thanks for that.prices are following the usa markets
which are all based on crop yield expectations which is based on weather forecasts
the speculaters in grain who drive the futures market price setting follow all the data all the time
what spot price we get at harvest will be determined by actual yields and the degree of need for farmers to move grain
sfi payments bps payments can fill cash flow for some
storage and movement will not be issue here in the midlands
the latest predictions in the uk are for 3.3 million tonne carryover and a 9 to 10.7 million tonne harvest
14.5 million tonne demand but a 2 million tonne end of season stock
leaving a couple of million tonne shortfall
imho the biggest unknown is the area of barley and yield of barley
this could be a lot lower than predicted
Just a small local merchant. Its a big pig finishing area up here so grain is usually £4 or £5 dearer than elsewhereAny particular homes @tommy tucker ?
Only about £3 over barley then. I had to pay £195 for a load delivered for next week, was told second hand last night someone locally had been charged £203 for a rigid load by Jamesons. A lot of spot buying by mills to cover extra sheep feed sales due to the weatherFeed wheat £190 ex farm for spot movement here in north yorks today
Merchants do seem very keen to buy at the minuteOnly about £3 over barley then. Because they know what the market will look like later in the year , listened to Harry's farm you tube he looks as if he is going to burst into laughter at government policy for agriculture actMerchants do seem very keen to buy at the minute

It's all in central storage, alas, so it's official merchants only aka a rough bumming it seems. I've only heard from one, mind.Where in Lincolnshire are you I dare say I could beat the barley price even with the haulage

All the commentators keep calling it a 'Weather Market'. Its a Supply Market issue that may deteriorate because of the weather. I think the distinction is important.the weather market looks like its warming up...
