1 load Barley for June today 185
by July there will be very little left for any carry over
if 20 July to 10 august is wet or June is cool and dull then any one with grain will be able to call the price

any sensible consumer should have got their need sorted before now there was plenty of barley under 150 then and storage is not that expensive
A lot of consumers up here were covered or thought they were. I am told the administrator at Inglis have shut the doors in and out so anyone trying to draw on contract loads has been left well and truly in the lurch which has led to panic buying.

I would also add that crap grass supply could not have been predicted (looked opposite when barley was easier in March). Whilst these consumers may have been advised to have a bit of contingency, how much is wise when it's going to be worth a good deal less in the autumn?

Personally I hope that my extra barley consumption now is offset by those cattle being away sooner, but unless things improve the next batch will also be chomping on old-crop barley, when they'd not normally see strong feed until the freshness was well off new-crop.

and that explains the 10-12£ uplift above futures round here ,merchants are short of grain and very few folk within our stomping ground have any unbooked left so means a long haul to fulfill those earlier contracts

What's the new target price for old crop barley
now that someone has reported being offered £200ex?
I’d be happy if the local farmers that are getting it from me will pay £200
I'd like £200 for mine.
I’m selling what I have left to local farmers at the moment but I’m sure they won’t pay £200 for it. The last I sold at £180 was painfull enough for them to agree too

Anyone a load of feed barley or wheat for sale closish to Dg99dl I’m about a lorry load short for my own cows, that’s the issue when you store grain for plenty others then it comes to end and there’s not as much there that’s yours as you think! Bad management really but anyhow

Where else will they get it from?
If that’s the market price it’s the market price.
Not often the ball is at our feet to kick in this game.
Most sectors done well the past few months. I’m sure they can afford it:)

It was £158ex on 30th march. That was probably painful for stock farmers to agree to. Local stock farmers wince at £20/AC for good spring barley straw. I wince at forecast new fert prices. There's a theme here.
