We have seen a huge spike in prices “thanks” to some awful one off event. Impossible to say when this turns around, but when it does there will be a lot of folk asking “what were we thinking🤦‍♂️“. Farmers saying they are holding out for £400 for wht forget their biggest customers are their fellow farmers….these prices are not sustainable. Neither is fert/oil/labour.
It is sustainable though, the rises in price needed for a dozen eggs, or a kilo of pork etc is relatively small compared to what people will pay for an iPhone or a leased Tesla etc.

Farmers are not price setters though

Couldn’t agree more but I can’t help but think governments around the world will be desperate to keep a lid on food price rises as it could well be , along with oil electric and other energy , the final nail towards a recession , people just expect anything to be affordable when simply not that long ago they were luxuries , how many firms and companies are formed off th

Speaking to a neighbour today who is from Ukraine. He was telling me that there is a factory in Odessa which produces neon gas . 90% of the world’s microchips depend on that gas for there production. Taking that factory out of production would fairly turn the world economy upside do

Seems that's around the price for feed barley in North Yorkshire, I know of 2 beef fattening units who are struggling to buy it and when they have up to 1500 head of cattle on, it's not a ideal situation for them to be in!!!
An intensive bull beef animal can eat up to 3t of meal in its lifetime. The ration has increased in price by £100 , X 3 = £300. Plus fuel, energy, fert, machinery price increases. I cannot see the finished price rising by anywhere near that amount. A lot of livestock men are going to be working for nothing this year.
