What's worst with it to not make malting?
Screenings. Pre samples were between 10-15% then magically jumped to 30% at the intake. Nitrogen also hovering at 1.67-1.75. Could have dressed it to meet spec but by the time it had been done and the penalty for nitrogen it’s not much of a change to feed price.
What’s left to cut is starting to grow now so it definitely won’t make the cut.

Yeah, we've had spec changing fairly dramatically between pre samples and intake too.

Think some of the maltsters are at it with the skinnings job too this year.
They’ve got so used to skinnings being higher than average this year they have started marking up everything just because it’s a high skinning year.

Had 2 over contract loads at the end this year so first cut stuff at the back of the shed that was tested at 6-7% skins. A month & 20 contract loads away later at average 11% skins this first cut stuff suddenly becames 16% when in the lorry at the intake & the £235/t spot price becomes £224 or thereabouts.

I suppose I should be grateful to them for taking it though;)

I had bother with inglis years ago .....now know why ..... we had a fixed price contract but then spot price was a lot lower with plenty good quality about . I started keeping 30ton piles separate so shed sampled with a multi depth spear would be say 2.something% skinning , then it would jump out of spec to 9% on waggon , so they would kick me off the contract to a spot price .

Ever since then I cant really trust any of them as everything seems too weighted on maltsters side . Haulage just kills these sort of games .

I get that if someone was selling straight off field intakes results would be required but when it's in store and they have sampled , they should accept it or what was point of samples that then change wildly .

If I had a local firm I could cart stuff into with a tractor I'd be keener to deal with them but as soon as your say 30 or so miles away , the gamble just doesn't seem as appealing when they hold loaded dice .

I actually meant where are you.
But in answer to your question I'm on £160 collected by a neighbour.
Suspect I may be a tad low, but his first load was a tad high. Happy enough.
