On our 2nd guest refurb and it’s going well. This one is a 4m the previous 3m we ran for 15 years largely trouble free and it’s still going locally.

Would the lc be a better bet to have the triple row Suffolk coulters for weight saving.

No discs are far better I wouldn't go back to Suffolk coulters again we could take a set of ceramic tips off in 2 seasons the cast ones just melt away .

Once you've had a decent disc drill you'll not go back the way

From a standard disc drill with no press wheels on what is the benefit of these over Suffolk coulters? I can see they would be better in wet but what else is there as the depth would be the same to alter as the Suffolk?

Andy guest harrows are better than they were new go for a look how he refurbish’s them it will put you mind at rest.

Go and have a look, but expect to be there awhile, he`s quite proud to show off what they do there.

Had a couple of issues with the drill we got from them in the spring, parts were there next day, nothing that stopped us using the drill though

You get better seed placement with disc.

We initially fitted cx disc coulters on accord drill, replacing Suffolk’s as when sowing wheat after potatoes the shaws would trail in the Suffolk coulters. We don’t generally plough after potatoes to try and leave any escapees on the surface to be eaten or frosted, so the shaws remain on top as well

Depth wheels will follow the ground into a hole so within reason you'll get a lot more consistent seed depth where no wheels itll come out the ground over a low bit and bury out of sight in a high bit

I saw on an Amazone box drill that the coulter bar lifted on rams, is there anyone else who does this for seed depth as I could see this saving a lot of hassle in changing conditions we seem to get.

Horsch but once depth is set you'll rarely change it unless between small seeds and grain
