Come on Edward, the first couple of questions you asked about forage harvesters merely looked like your homework - this seems to be cut & paste. At least start with: here's what I've found so far - have I got the right end of the stick?

@JP1 I did wonder when you posted the survey sticky whether some guidance/rules could be helpful for cases like this.

As far as I can see there are no disadvantages to rotary.

Unless your the bloke following with a 30 year old round baler.

Advantage of a rotary combine is you can wear pink or bright green trousers and you are guaranteed a 12t/ha yield
disadvantage of a rotary combine. You can have cut all your crop so quickly that non of it was ripe and you had to spend a fortune on drying costs.

Advantage of a walker combine is when set up correctly you can’t use the straw chopper to auto cast next year’s crop.
Disadvantage of a walker combine. You have cut your crop so slow that you missed the 2 day window of good weather and you have to spend a fortune on drying costs.

walker combine allegidly gentler on straw, better in damper conditions.
rotary higher throughput, power input closely related to output, can have higher losses in damp conditions (slower!) harder on straw -tighter swath slower to dry
