Combo clamp weighbridge

I find ours is consistent (that consistent it's always 4kg heavier than the fudging market:mad: - but that's a whole new thread:whistle:) I always check it with an old 4 stone weight before I start. Ours is all Tru-Test - stick reader, weigh bars and XR 3000. The XR 3000 has an adjustable damping system in it to alter weighing speeds and won't let you press the 'record weight' button unless the weight is stable (a light comes on to tell you when).
I've not noticed any difference where you stand although I would say you would be in pretty much the same place all the time to press the weigh button.

Is your XR3000 the original model, the one that weighed in stones?;)

Thanks. Consistency is my biggest concern, everything else can be adjusted or allowed for. If it's inconsistent, then you can't rely on the reading and you may as well guess.

Your marts scales are even further out than mine. At least they're only 2kg light here.:banghead:

Not quite what you're asking Neil but,
My clamp has a reader panel on just the moving side, no problems with right ear tagged sheep, but it misses alot of left ear tagged sheep,

I thought, "oh it would be easy to fit another panel on the near side" to make a super reader :couchpotato:
So duly asked shearwell, where I had it explained to me that it's not that simple, because the two panels have to be "tuned", no problem on a weigh crate as the sides are a fixed width apart,

But on a clamp the sides narrow on operation, potentially un-tuning the two panels.
They said it can be done (exmoor tom has a combi with two panels) but there may be problems.

Only sheep in my flock with left eid tags are the bought in ones so it might just be cheaper to re tag them and as we're going closed flock everything else is tagged right ear.

Hmm, 2 readers sound expensive, even if you could make them work.:scratchhead:
Maybe best to stick with the Psion, which would have to be near to record to Farmworks.

Always found it very accurate/static depending on where I stand, if I'm honest (downside of having 3 different manufactures on 1 piece of equipment!) it never came with any instructions and had to install all the electrical stuff, so kind of guessed where it went. Don't find it an issue only thing hadn't fitted the top padded bit as it was in the way.

You saying should of had frame this side and the panel at the back?

Sorry, I was thinking of the reader on the back (moving) side, rather than on the solid panel you gave to lean on.

2 panels, one each side.
1 reader (the expensive bit)

Panel reader connected to psion and weigh head so weight and tag number recorded for you,
Once you've experienced that, you won't want to go back to waving the psion at every sheep that goes in the crate

I spoke to Shearwell recently. They said to fit the above (Inc weigh head, psion and software) was £5500 + VAT. Time to start saving...

Seems rather expensive,

Psion and farmworks is about £1500
Te pari dual weigh head &reader (T20e) is about £1800
(T10e would save abit)
When I looked, it was cheaper to buy a dual unit rather than separate weigh head and reader, unless you are prepared to have a fairly basic weigh head.
Load bars would be about £700-800

Not sure what two panels would cost but can't think it would be that much ££

May be some savings if you just bought the kit and fitted it yourself?

Saying that. ....... I'm not sure how complicated it would be :nailbiting:

I had the 'wobbly' problem as described above . A call to Ritchie procured a special frame designed to bolt the the frame to the load bars. The load bars themselves now sitting in a Ritchie frame . The result of an earlier conversation.
@neilo Border supply a loop that fits on moving side that reads 100% on left eared tagged lambs moving right to left but does miss the occasional ewe.

HI, apart from the cells, simple way to read the EID of sheep
Benefit of this method is that the AWR stick reader can be removed from the combi clamp after weighting and it is capable of the full range of management recording same as the Psion workabout (now Motorola Workabout) but is about half the price. The stick format is easier on the operator's back if scanning a lot of animals. please get in touch f you want any more information

Now if only you'd thought to dangle it off a pair of braces.;)

Liking the custom made, weatherproof cover for the Trutest head unit btw. Proper farmer tech.(y)

Ritchey guy told me a lot of people had just cable tied a handheld reader on the front/side of the clamp too.
