Is it just me, or has it flown by this year??
Seems very strange to have lambing fields empty and the ewes up next to the hill already.

Mind you, going round an hour ago was cracking in this weather

There's the odd one still to lamb here but I'm shifting them all back up the hill. Down to checking them twice a day and have been for 10 days now (y)

Just 14 pets in the shed. Last ewe went out a week ago.

I start lambing 400 on the 25th march and only have 2 left.
Fastest and best lambing iv ever had, girlfriend is furloughed off work so has cleared out every pen between ewes and keep them feed and watered. Its made a hell of a difference. No watery mouth and has given me time to make sure everything has enough milk and drank.
Managed to turn 195% out but still have 75 pet lambs!
Start lambing 400 again next Wednesday so I hope they go as well, my only concern with them is how fat they are but they are in lamb to NZ Suffolk's and for the first time lleyns so should be ok.

Weathers made a big difference in the latter stages, it was very wet and cold here early march and struggled for room when the rush was on. Biggest problem this year was a good big strong lamb and a rabbit size one with now will to live. Not had any pets untill this week, twins off a dead ewe and 2 that's been miss mothered and she wont take un back, other than that it's been a good lambing.

Hell 195% out. What dreams are made of. What breed are you on?

Not really because some ewes probably have to many lambs on them, I did lift a twin off a yearling this morning and probably take off a triplet tonight. There all north country mules from Skipton, they alway have a lot of lambs probably because I buy small running lambs and don’t give a toss what there heads look like, I’m convinced they are all twins. I’ve been shepherding this flock for 12 years and the lowest was 180% sold that went to the tup (not including pets)

Was going to say mules but didn’t want to be presumptuous. Always a fine line between a good percentage but too many trebles. Sounds good though, our mules have diminished in recent years but think will bring some more in this autumn.

The mule is definitely good at getting plenty of lambs. It’s a good system really because I put a Suffolk on them and keep the ewe lambs round and sell as yearlings.

I think the hot December we had, has effected joining. My empties were up at 9% and 11% for the two mobs and lambing is much slower than last year. Last year I had 90% of lambs in the first 14 days, this year only 67% have lambed in the first 14 days.

I also rejoined my empties and noticed one has lambed already so the scanner got that one wrong.
